    Warning of International Scam

    Issued: 16 May 2024

NORTHERN CONSTABULARY WARN PUBLIC OF INTERNATIONAL SCAM WHICH HAS ARRIVED IN INVERNESS

NORTHERN Constabulary is warning members of the public in Inverness and across the Highlands and Islands about a new scam which has affected a number of people in the Highland capital.

The letter, which is delivered to people’s doors, originates from Madrid, Spain and has the heading Inter Lotto Commission.

It states the recipient has won a six figure sum (in euros) and that he/she must return the attached form, filling in their bank details which the company claims it will use to deposit the winnings. These winnings will of course never arrive and your bank account may be used to commit identity fraud or be syphoned.

The letter asks you to forward your claim to Don Alberto Bueno, Foreign Department Manager, Nortehispana Seguros, S.A.

A number of these letters have been received by residents in Inverness and they have quite rightly forwarded the details onto Police.

The Force is also advising members of the public not to reply to such letters, ignore them and under no circumstances issue bank details or other personal information to any company or individual they do not know for sure is legitimate.
