Mountain Rescue - Cuillins

Issued: 29 Oct 2024

TWO people were led to safety by Skye Mountain Rescue Team yesterday evening after they had got into difficulties whilst walking in the Cuillins.

The man and woman were descending Coire na Creiche near the area known as The Fairy Pools, Glenbrittle, and were unable to complete their descent due to the rapidly rising water levels in the streams with heavy rain. Due to the fading daylight, they had insufficient time to retrace their route.

The couple managed to ascend to a point where they obtained a mobile phone signal and contacted emergency services. Six members of Skye Mountain Rescue Team attended and led the couple to safety.

Police would like to remind all hillwalkers to be aware of the changeable weather conditions and reducing daylight hours at this time of year.
