Sharing Citizenship across the highlands

Issued: 15 Nov 2024

Two Highland Primary Schools extended their hands of friendship when they met last week. P7 pupils from Kirkhill and Cromarty Primary schools got together to share ideas about developing Citizenship within their schools.

Both schools have Citizenship Groups which involve all pupils. This very inclusive approach ensures that all children have the opportunity to contribute to their school and wider community.

Christine Ford Head Teacher at Kirkhill said: "A number of years ago we realised that some children were missing the opportunity to become involved in a Citizenship Group. We adapted our ideas so that all children are part of a great big team. This idea has also been adopted by Cromarty Primary and the Cromarty children had the opportunity to visit Kirkhill to chat to fellow Citizenship Pupils."
