Fungi and wild food walk at Farr

Issued: 1 Sep 2024

An introduction to fungi and wild food under the watchful eye of Highland Council's Countryside Rangers is on offer this weekend in Farr woods near Inverness.

"Have you ever wondered how people used plants in the past and which mushrooms are safe to eat?" said Inverness Ranger, Katy Martin.

She added: "Wild plants and fungi are have been used by people for thousands of years for so many purposes. We'll be concentrating on edible plants and fungi and learning about the essential jobs that they do for us."

The guided walk is on Saturday 4 September between 2-4pm and will take place in a pine wood in Farr. The exact location will be given out on booking. The cost is £3 adults and £2 children. Places are limited on this popular family friendly event so please book a place on 01463 710786 or contact the same number for further information.
