Children's Christmas craft workshops at Inverness Museum & Art Gallery

Issued: 24 Nov 2010

To help people get ready and in the festive mood for Christmas, Inverness Museum & Art Gallery are running craft and storytelling workshops throughout December.

Everyone who takes part will get a chance to make decorations for the home, gift bags for presents and handmade Christmas cards.

The events will take place on Saturdays 4, 11 and 18 December from 10.30am to 12.30pm.

On Saturday 11 December artist Lizzie McDougall will lead a storytelling session on the 'Strath Stories' followed by a craft session. The workshops are for children and families and follow on from the success of the children's craft activities which ran during the summer at the museum.

Alison Boyle, Highland Council's Cultural Co-ordinator will show participants how to make decorations for their Christmas trees on 4 December and on 18 December she will demonstrate how to make Christmas cards and gift bags.

Inverness Museum and Art Gallery Curator, Catharine Niven said: "We hope to provide a festive haven of creativity and enjoyment for families preparing for Christmas through these traditional workshops. We are looking forward to seeing all the children coming to the museum to take part as their enthusiasm is heart-warming at this time of year."

The arts and crafts workshops are suitable for children aged 4 and over (children under 6 must be accompanied by an adult). All workshops must be booked and have a £2.50 entry fee. Places are limited. Please call Inverness Museum on 01463 237114 to make a booking.

The museum shop will also be open for Christmas shopping until 4pm on Friday 24 December as will the café until 3:30pm.
