Changes in Community Care being discussed at August Ward Forums

Issued: 10 Aug 2024

Residents from the wider Easter Ross area are invited to have their say on changes to community care services at two ward forums being held later this month at Saltburn and Tain.

The Cromarty Firth Ward Forum is being held in the Saltburn Community Hall, Saltburn, on Thursday 19 August.

The Tain and Easter Ross Ward Forum is being held in the General Purpose Hall, Tain Royal Academy Community Complex, Tain on Wednesday 25 August.

Both Ward Forums are held from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. Refreshments will be available from 7pm to 7.30pm.

The Highland Community Care Partnership (The Highland Council and NHS Highland) are working on a new Joint Community Care Plan to co-ordinate their approach to providing care and support to adults in need. This includes older people and other vulnerable groups, such as people with learning disability, sensory impairment, mental health and/or substance misuse problems and those who are homeless.

The Partnership has already been involved in gathering people's views in a variety of different ways and as part of the consultation process they are now aiming to discuss their plans at most Ward Forums.

Ian Thomson, The Highland Council's Social Work Project Manager co-ordinating the consultation said, "We want to make sure this new plan for Community Care will fully reflect what matters most to people. At the Forum Social Work staff will inform people about our plans and summarise what we have heard so far. The Forum gives us another opportunity to discuss with people how we can change Community Care for the better, and how we can work with communities and individuals to provide the support they need."

Every Community Council and other representative community organisations are members of the Ward Forum and have the opportunity to feed the views of their community into the subjects being discussed.

If you have an enquiry about your Ward Forum; would like to submit questions in advance of the meeting; or have any special requirements/needs to help you take part, please contact Helen Ross at Invergordon Service Point or by phoning 01349 855524 or by emailing helen.ross@highland.gov.uk
