Police Seize Drugs With Street Value Of Approximately £120,000

Issued: 8 Jan 2024

Northern Constabulary has seized drugs with an estimated street value of £120,000 yesterday.

The seizure of what is suspected to be heroin was made after Police stopped a vehicle in the Kingussie area in early hours of Sunday morning.

A 30-year-old Liverpool man is expected to appear at Inverness Sheriff Court today in connection with the seizure.

Detective Superintendent Gordon Urquhart, said: "One of the Force's strategic priorities is to stem the supply of illegal drugs to the Highlands and Islands."

"Some weeks ago the Chief Constable highlighted the fact that drugs were coming into the area from Merseyside and the arrest of a person from that area over the weekend highlights the positive impact we are having on this pernicious trade."

"As such we will continue to commit time and resources to focus on this type of criminality to the benefit of our communities."

These latest seizures underline the Force's determination to make a significant impact against drug dealing.

Police would urge anyone who has information about people they suspect may be involved in drug related activity to contact us or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
