Police Appeal For Information Following Vandalism of Windows At Swing Bridge Cabins on A82

Issued: 11 Jan 2024

Police in Inverness are appealing to the public for information following three separate incidents of vandalism to the cabins at three swing bridges on the A82, near Fort Augustus.

Between 1.30pm on Monday 8 January and 11.30am on Tuesday a number of window panes were damaged in the cabins located at the swing bridges on A82 Inverness to Fort Augustus road.

These three cabins are situated by the Caledonian Canal at Fort Augustus, Aberchalder and Laggan.

The damage in each case was found to be similar in nature and all occurred between the dates and times stated. Police believe these crimes are linked, given the distance between the first and last bridge is only nine miles.

Fortunately there was no damage within the cabins and the swing bridges are operating as normal.

Police are encouraging members of the public with any information regarding these incidents to contact them on 01463 715555 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
