Issued: 16 Jan 2024

At around 12.30pm today a 48-year-old man was climbing with a companion in the Coire Leis area of Ben Nevis when he slipped and fell 150m due to icy conditions.

Members of the Lochaber Mountain Rescue team attended. The man sustained back and head injuries and was airlifted by Rescue 137 from Kinloss to the Belford Hospital in Fort William.

Then at 13.42 another male, details of whom are not known at this stage, fell in roughly the same area suffering a suspected broken ankle.

Lochaber MRT also attended and he too was airlifted by Rescue 137 and taken to the Belford Hospital in Fort William for treatment.

There are no further details at this time.
