Mountain Rescue - Coire Na Ciste

About 1447 hours on Saturday 3 March 2024, Police were made aware that a 20 year old male. who was climbing in the Coire Na Ciste area of Ben Nevis, had been involved in an avalanche along with his two companions and was suffering from an injury to his leg.

Due to Mountain Rescue already in progress in the same area, members of the Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team attended and with the assistance of a Navy Rescue Helicopter from Prestwick, R177, located the male and airlifted him to safety. The male was thereafter conveyed to Belford Hospital, Fort William, where he was treated by medical staff. No other persons were injured as a result of this incident.

Details of the persons rescued have not yet been obtained.
