Fatal Road Traffic Collision - A9 near Dalwhinnie

Issued: 24 Mar 2024

About 1800 hours this date - Saturday, 24 March, 2024 - Northern Constabulary Force Operations Centre, Inverness, received a report of a serious road traffic collision having just occurred on the A9 Inverness to Perth road, just north of its junction with the B889 road to Dalwhinnie.

Police units responded immediately as did the Scottish Ambulance Service and Fire & Rescue personnnel.

It has been established that a collison took place between two vehicles. Two persons - one male and one female - are confirmed as deceased as a result of this accident. Other persons are currently being treated as necessary.

The A9 has been closed to facilitate road collision investigations and will remain thus until further notice.

Matters are at a very early stage and Police Officers are still in attendance at the scene. For this reason - and the fact that there are obviously outstanding next-of-kin issues - no further details will be issued at this stage.
