POLICE HIGHLIGHT THEFTS FROM BUILDING SITES IN INVERNESS

POLICE in Inverness are warning local building contractors to be extra vigilant as a number of containers left on building sites around Inverness have been broken into.

Criminals are actively targeting new developments. The property being stolen from these building sites are hand power tools and copper piping.

Community Safety Officer for Inverness Area Command Constable Alan Lewthwaite said: “It appears that opportunist thieves have taken to targeting soft targets in and around the city of Inverness. They are stealing small, high value items of property from building sites.

“I would urge everyone to consider their current security arrangements as soon as possible and take appropriate steps to reduce the risk to their property.”

For further advice you can contact your local police station or log on to www.crimereduction.gov.uk which will answer most of your security concerns.

Police are appealing to anyone with information relating to these incidents to call their nearest Police station. Police also urge people to report suspicious activity or vehicles.

Any person with information is requested to contact Police at Inverness on 01463 715555.
