Police are currently evacuating residents from 23 houses in the Merkinch area as a precaution as they continue to deal with an explosion in the Thornbush Road area of Inverness.
The explosion at a yard resulted in a number of detonators ending up in neighbouring gardens. Army explosives experts are en route to the scene.
Nineteen homes have been evacuated in Thornbush Road and four in MacLennan Gardens as a precaution.
The Highland Council can confirm it has now opened Merkinch Community Centre and it will be used as a reception centre.
Anyone displaced following the evacuation is welcome to attend there for shelter and refreshment.
Both Thornbush Road and Anderson Street have been closed by Police and they are expected to remain closed until the area is made safe.
Further updates will be issued when information becomes available.
