NORTH POLICE MAKE ANOTHER MAJOR DRUGS SEIZURE IN INVERNESS
Northern Constabulary last night put another dent in the Highland drug trade following the seizure of high purity amphetamine with a street value of over £50,000 in Inverness.
Last night a man from the Merseyside area was arrested and found to be in possession of approximately 3kg of amphetamine.
A 27-year-old man is due to appear in Inverness Sheriff Court today in relation to drug dealing offences.
Detective Inspector Donnie Ross said: "The Northern Constabulary Force area is currently being targeted by criminals from the Merseyside area and this is a significant seizure in the fight against drugs.
"Our officers have carried a great deal of work in relation to drug dealing in Inverness and we will continue to disrupt a trade which adversely affects our communities."
This latest seizure follows yesterday's sentencing at the High Court in Edinburgh of Roy Thomas, Craig Lee and Ian MacDougall.
All three were jailed for a combined total of 15 years for their part in the creation of a heroin-dealing network in the Black Isle area.
Their activities were halted by Ross, Cromarty and Skye Area Command's Operation Éclair, which had began in 2024.
This latest seizure underlines the Force's commitment to tackling the supply and use of illegal drugs in the Highlands and Islands.
Recently the Force has recovered £120,000 worth of heroin in the Kingussie area on December 3 last year and £4,000 worth of drugs (ecstasy, amphetamine and cannabis) in Nairn on February 18 this year.
