Ian Gibson has been appointed Vice Chair of the NHS Highland Board. Mr Gibson has served on the Board for two years and has been chair of the South East Community Health Partnership during that time.
On taking up his new role Mr Gibson said: "NHS Highland serves the largest geographic area of any health board in Scotland and it's a big job that takes an enormous team effort. I'm looking forward to playing my part as Vice Chair of the Board."
Mr Gibson will now step down as chair of the South East Community Health Partnership. This vacancy will be filled in the coming weeks.
NHS Highland Chair Garry Coutts said: "I'm delighted Ian will be moving into this new role as vice chair. His experience with charities and the voluntary sector means he brings an important perspective to the table."
The vacancy of vice chair arose with the retirement of Heather Sheerin in June who served as a Board member and chair of the former Highland Primary Care NHS Trust for many years. Garry Coutts said: "Heather Sheerin made an enormous contribution to health in Highland and we were all very sad to see her go. Our job now is to keep up the momentum for change that benefits patients and the public."
