Why not step into Spring with The Highland Council Countryside Rangers in Badenoch & Strathspey who are offering a couple of interesting events on Saturday 1st May at opposite ends of the Strath.

From 10 am to 2.30pm Duncan Macdonald. Countryside Ranger for Badenoch & Strathspey South invites walkers to join him to explore some of the more remote corners of Invereshie and Inshriach National Nature Reserve.

Duncan said: "This small National Nature Reserve is a real gem. Almost the entire Cairngorms National Park in miniature! From woodland bog to alpine plateaux it really has everything. Who knows what we'll get to see after the long harsh winter."

Anyone wishing to join Duncan should meet at the Gliding Club entrance to the reserve, at Glen Feshie, at 10am. Bring waterproofs, binoculars, walking boots and a packed lunch. The walk will cost adults £5 and children and concessions £3.

Also on Saturday across the Strath Saranne Bish, The Highland Council Countryside Ranger for Badenoch & Strathspey North is celebrating the importance of whisky in the Strath's cultural history through a guided walk as part of the Spirit of Speyside Whisky festival and Grantowns' Strathspey in May music festival.

Why not come along for a walk with a wee tot or dram at strategic viewpoints? Anyone wishing to take part should meet Saranne at the Dogwalkers carpark on Revack estate (NH 032 255) at 11am with a packed lunch, walking boots and full waterproofs for a fun day out. The walk is approx 6 miles long (10km) and should take until around 4pm to complete. The cost is £7 for adults and £4 for concessions.
