Update - Fire - Fortrose area

Issued: 4 Oct 2024

Police and Highlands and Islands Fire and Rescue Service are continuing to deal with a steading fire at a farm on an unclassified road above Fortrose.

The fire, at Wester Craiglands, was reported to Police and fire at around 10.05am this morning.

Fire fighters, using breathing aparatus, are tackling the blaze.

The latest information is that Police are evacuating a small number of homes north of Wester Craiglands within a 4km area, including houses in the Ordhill, Raddery, Upper Raddery and Blackstand areas as a precaution.

HIFRS are still advising people living within these areas to stay indoors and keep windows and doors closed as a precaution. The steading is believed to contain fertiliser.

A small school at Raddery has been closed as a precaution.

Further updates will be issued when information is available.
