Police warn bus companies and lorry drivers re diesel thefts - East Division

Issued: 28 Oct 2024

Police are warning bus companies and lorry drivers in the Inverness, Badenoch, Strathspey and Nairn areas to ensure their fuel caps are secure following a number of thefts of diesel over the past week.

Criminals have been stealing diesel from lorries and buses across the Division. Diesel has gone missing from lorries parked up in industrial estates.

Some have been secure but some haven't and the thefts are generally taking place during the hours of darkness.

Police are advising people to take some simple steps to avoid becoming a victim of such crime:

* Make sure vehicles are in secure premises with gates locked

* Ensure fuel caps are locked

* Lorries should be parked in approved spaces and locked up

Anyone with any information about who may be responsible is urged to contact their nearest Police station.
