Police investigating possible wildlife crime at an estate in Badenoch

Issued: 6 Sep 2010

Police in Badenoch are investigating the suspected poisoning of birds of prey in the area following the discovery of two dead buzzards at the weekend.

Officers were alerted by a member of the public who was shooting at an estate in the Badenoch area and came across a dead buzzard. A subsequent search of the area resulted in the discovery of a second bird.

Tests will be carried out on both birds to establish the exact cause of death and whether or not they were poisoned.

Police would urge anyone who has information about the illegal poisoning of birds to contact their nearest Police station or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
