House Fire - Isle of Raasay

About 1.00am on the morning of Sunday 18th January 2009, Highlands and Islands Fire & Rescue Service were advised of a fire at Raasay House Outdoor Centre,on the Isle of Raasay, Skye, discovered by a neighbour.

Fire crews attended from Raasay, Kyle of Lochalsh, Broadford and Portree and tackled the blaze over the course of several hours, with the crews from the Skye mainland being ferried to Raasay by the local lifeboat crew.

The building was unoccupied, being under extensive renovations which were nearing completion.

No persons were in the building at the time or injured in the course of the incident.

The premises were extensively damaged and enquiry into the cause of the fire is being carried out by police and fire investigators.
