Fire - Fortrose area

Issued: 4 Oct 2010

Police and Highlands and Islands Fire and Rescue Service are currently attending a steading fire at a farm on an unclassified road above Fortrose.

The fire, at Wester Craiglands, was reported to Police and fire at around 10.05am this morning.

Fire fighters using breathing aparatus are currently tackling the blaze and say the smoke is drifting and dispersing in a northerly direction over the Raddery and White Bog areas at present.

HIFRS advice at the present time is for people living within those areas to stay indoors and keep windows and doors closed as a precaution. The steading is believed to contain fertiliser.

Further updates will be issued when information is available.
