New Rector of Millburn Academy Inverness

The Highland Council has appointed a new Rector at Millburn Academy, Inverness.

She is Mrs Delia Thornton, Depute Head Teacher at Buckie High School.

Mrs Thornton will take up her new post at the start of the new school session in August.

She replaces Mr Graham Spence, who is retiring in August as Rector after 17 years at the helm.

Mrs Thornton taught in Aberdeen schools before being appointed Depute Head Teacher at Buckie High School in 1999.

A £26 million new school is currently under construction at Millburn Academy, with completion due in September, 2008.

Millburn Academy is one of the largest secondary schools in Highland, with 1,050 pupils.
