Issued: 28 Jun 2024

Businesses in the Lochaber area are being invited to attend an award ceremony to receive acknowledgment from The Highland Council for the ongoing and valuable contributions that employers make in supporting skills for work; work experience; and enterprise projects.

An invitation from The Highland Council's, Education, Culture and Sport Service has gone out to local businesses to attend the Ben Nevis Hotel, Fort William on Tuesday 29 June.

Highland Council's, Director of Education, Culture and Sport Hugh Fraser said: "This is a time of great change in Scottish Education. It is more important than ever that we help young people to develop Skills for Life and Work. Employers and businesses working in partnership with schools play a crucial role in preparing our pupils for the world of work and their future careers."

He added: "We are recognising the important input employers and businesses make to education by hosting a series of events throughout the Highlands over the next twelve months. These events support the national enterprise agenda which has, as a main theme engaging employers."

At each event all invited businesses will be presented with an award. Those attending will hear from young people and others about the value
of partnership working, demonstrating the difference employer engagement makes in supporting education and preparing young people for the world
of work.
