Community care on Lochaber ward forum agenda

Issued: 18 Aug 2024

Attendees at the Lochaber South (Ward 22 Fort William and Ardnamurchan) and North (Ward 12 Caol & Mallaig) Forum meetings will have the opportunity to make their voices heard as part of the consultation process on changes to community care services in the Highlands.

The Highland Community Care Partnership (The Highland Council and NHS Highland) is bringing together a new joint Community Care Plan. This will be the central tool for co-ordinating the approach to providing care and support to adults in need. This can include older people and other vulnerable groups such as people with learning disability, sensory impairment, mental health and/or substance misuse problems and those who are homeless.

The partnership has already been involved in gathering peoples' views in a variety of different ways including through stakeholder forums, consultation documents and by the Highland Community Care Forum (HCCF) listening to 'harder to reach' groups. As part of the consultation process the HCCF are now discussing their plans with Ward Forums.

The Ward 22 forum will also feature a progress update for the Caledonia Way cycle route with both Forums receiving information on Ward discretionary spends for the period 2024/10.

The Forum for Ward 22 will take place on Monday 23 August 2024 at 6.30pm, in "The Venue", Leven Centre, Kinlochleven and Ward 12 will meet the following day on Tuesday 24 August in Mallaig High School at 7.30pm.
