Police today welcomed the sentence handed out to Nairn man Edward Davis (67) who was convicted of sexual offences against two young boys between 1987 and 1992.
Davis will serve seven years in prison as a result of the sentence handed out to him today by Lord Turnbull at the High Court in Livingston.
The historical case began in 2024 when disclosures were made to Northern Constabulary officers. It was a long and difficult case due to the nature of the allegations and the vulnerability of the witnesses.
Chief Inspector Jim Neill, said: "Although this case is historical in nature the psychological scars inflicted on the victims run deep. We hope this sentence may help bring some sort of closure to their ordeal.
"We welcome the sentence handed out to Edward Davis by Lord Turnbull which underlines that people who commit such crimes can never rest easily and that their actions will one day come back to haunt them."
He added: "We would like to pay tribute to the courage shown by the victims in coming forward and hopefully it will inspire others who have suffered abuse to contact Police."
