POLICE and ambulance and currently attending a serious road collision on the A836 Bettyhill to Thurso road, half a mile east of Bettyhill.
The collision, involving a motorcylist and a taxi, was reported at around 0945 this morning.
Officers at at the scene and members of the Road Policing Section are on their way at present. The air ambulance was dispatched to the area and is en route to Raigmore Hospital with one casualty, the motorcyclist, who is in a serious condition.
There are no details at present in relation to the number of occupants within the taxi, but there are no reports of any other injuries at this time.
The road has been closed and is expected to remain closed for some time. Diversions have been put in place from the A836 onto the B871 and A897. Both these roads are deemed unsuitable for HGVs, buses and other large forms of transport and drivers of those types of vehicle are being advised to completely avoid the area if possible.
