Road Traffic Collision - A9 at Coulnagour

About 4.45pm on Sunday 22 June 2008, a two vehicle injury road traffic collision occurred on the A9 public road about one mile south of the Cromarty Bridge.

The accident involved a south bound Jeep Cherokee which was involved in a collision with a northbound BMW motor vehicle.

Extensive damage was caused to both vehicles with the male driver of the BMW remaining trapped for a considerable time until cut free by attending HIFRS. He was thereafter conveyed to Raigmore Hospital by Air Ambulance. The extent of his injuries are unknown but are not believed to be life threatening.

The driver of the other vehicle and a passenger in the BMW were also conveyed to Raigmore Hospital suffering apparent minor injuries.

The road remained closed for over two hours with diversions in place at Tore and Ardullie roundabouts.

A report on the circumstances is to be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal at Dingwall.
