Mountain Rescue - Coire Na Banachdich, Cuillins, Isle of Skye

About 1630 hours on Sunday 22 June 2008, while descending Bealach Coire na Banachdich into Coire na Banachdich, Cuillins, Isle of Skye, a 68 year old male from Amsterdam, Netherlands, slipped in a small gully and fell a few metres, initially losing consciousness and sustaining facial and arm injuries:

His companion, also from Amsterdam, managed to descend to Glenbrittle, despite being hampered by poor weather, where at 1910 hours he managed to raise the alarm.

18 members of the Isle of Skye Mountain Rescue Team and the Coastguard and Maritime Agency Helicopter from Stornoway, carried out a search of the Corrie, locating the casualty at about 2145 hours.

He was airlifted to the Dr. Mackinnon Memorial Hspital, Broadford, Isle of Skye, where he is currently detained receiving medical treatment. His injuries do not appear to be life threatening.
