About 1200 hours on Wednesday 2nd July 2008, Police received a report that a diver had surfaced from a dive in Loch Pooltiel, Isle of Skye, when he signalled that he was unwell. He was assisted aboard the dive boat where he collapsed and lost consciousness. Other members and crew carried out CPR until the arrival of the Stornoway Coastguard Helicopter which airlifted him to the Western Isles Hospital in Stornoway where life was pronounced extinct.
Next of kin have been informed although his 13 year old daughter is on holiday and unaware. It is requested that his details are not released at present.
