POLICE, HIFRS, ambulance and coastguard services were this morning called to Yesnaby, Sandwick in Orkney following reports that a car had gone off the cliffs.
The report, which was made by a passing boat, came in at 0823 this morning (14 May 2026). Emergency services were then dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival the body of a female was found within the vehicle. The woman is believed to be the only occupant.
The body is in the process of being recovered at this time. Next of kin are also being informed at present. The identity of the woman will not be released until all next of kin have been informed.
Police inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing at this time, although there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.
